The Potting Shed is located on Route109 in Acton, Maine. The Restaurant opened in 1976 and for the next 25 years served primarily breakfast. The location was the original post office in the lake region for previous 15 years, later it became a little apple stand called “Smiths Red Apple Farm” which opened it’s doors to the offering apples, homemade jellies and cider in the fall season. Four years later Stan Smith Senior and Stan Jr. built The Potting Shed. Breakfast was served on August 1, 1977. The seating capacity was 48 plus an outdoor patio. Now the Potting shed has served as much as 800 breakfasts on Mothers Day. The new Potting Shed addition was completed in May of 2003 and houses a completely renovated ultra modern kitchen facility to complement the rollout of the dinner and revamped banquet menu.
